Red Velvet Cake Balls
I got this red velvet cake ball recipe from my cousin Stephanie…She made them for Christmas a couple years back and they were a hit! I make these a little too often now 🙂 All you’ll need is a box of red velvet cake mix and the ingredients the box calls for, cream cheese icing, white chocolate almond bark, and sprinkles (optional).
First, make the cake mix according to the package. Mix together in large bowl or electric mixer.
Pour into a 13×9 inch backing pan and put into the oven. Bake at 325 degrees (dark pan) or 350 degrees (glass or light colored pan) for 30 minutes (or according to box directions).
Once cooked, take out of the oven and let cool. Dump the cake into a large bowl, and using a fork, mash up the cake into crumbs.
Pour the entire can of cream cheese icing into the crumbled up cake and mix together.
Now comes the fun part! Shape the mixture into the size of small golf balls and place onto a cooking sheet. These will need to go into the refrigerator for about an hour or so. That way, when you drizzle the white chocolate almond bark over the cake balls, they don’t fall apart.
When the cake balls have hardened, heat up half of the almond bark in the microwave. You’ll heat up the other half when you run out. It takes a little bit of time to coat the cake balls, so the almond bark cools off quickly.
Using a fork, place the cake ball into the melted almond bark and let the chocolate fall through the fork.
Now, just let the almond bark on the cake balls harden….if you can resist, of course! 🙂
