I’ve been in Austin the last few days with my boyfriend and we ate some wonderful food! There are so many cool restaurants to choose from in Austin and I’m so glad we chose the ones below!
The first place we ate at was Casino el Camino… a burger joint on 6th street. They had enormous burgers! The restaurant was featured on Diners, Drive-ins, & Dives. I am such a fan of that show so I always try to eat at places that have been on Triple D!
A friend suggested that we try Trudys Tex-Mex, which was amazing! I ordered the Stuffed Avocado, which is the restaurant’s favorite original dish. It was a fried, breaded avocado stuffed with spiced chicken and cheese…topped with a sour cream and salsa verde enchilada sauce and more cheese. It was too yummy for my own good.
To work off that delicious dinner at Trudy’s, we visited Mt. Bonnell. I would say we hiked, but I don’t know that a 100 step stair case really counts as a work out. Needless to say, the views were amazing and made for a great morning!
Now, I don’t know about you, but I’ve never seen a “Summer Tomato Menu.” And I’ve also never had a Smoked Salmon Omelet….which pretty much changed my life! Picture this (and view it below)… Egg whites, smoked salmon served chilled, avocado and sautéed tomato topped with lemon dill cream cheese sauce, diced red onion and capers. It was heavenly goodness! The pictures just don’t do it justice. Kerbey Lane Cafe is THE place to go for breakfast. I can’t wait to go back!
And, the place that I have been looking forward to going to since I found it on the internet…THE OASIS! When contemplating where to eat during our 3 days in Austin, I stumbled upon The Oasis Restaurant. The first thing I saw was the view over Lake Travis and I just knew I had to try it! My boyfriend and I went for dinner and ate while the sun set. The food was delicious and the view amazing.
And lastly… Juan in a Million. My boyfriend had been wanting to eat these famous breakfast tacos for days so we finally went this morning before heading home. And once again, the food was great! I don’t think I had one bad thing to eat the entire time I was in Austin.
